The Gîte, a 2 bedroom self-catering cottage was a dependance which would have been home to the family’s livestock and also its employees who would have lived on the first floor above the animals.

It has been restored to provide modern comfort and yet retains the traditional feeling of the property.  The impressive stone wall has been uncovered and the beams, which have been untouched for several hundred years, now flaunt their gorgeous grains.

Downstairs now provides an airy open plan living area.  There’s a television with satellite provision and DVD player, and a wood burner to enjoy if you’re here in winter time.

The kitchen is well equipped with, amongst other things, an electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine and there’s a good-size fridge freezer.

The dining area adjoins the kitchen and looks out on to the terrace which has a west facing aspect.

This is so good, I wish we weren’t just renting it – I wish we had bought it! (Scott Pearson, Tunbridge Wells, England)

The Terrace

The terrace immediately outside the Gite provides you with a private, tranquil area for relaxing.  It's west facing and is an ideal afternoon sun-trap. The built-in BBQ is exclusively for your use, together with a pleasant sitting area.

There's also another terrace, also solely for your use, opposite the Gîte which, in summer, is well shaded by a fig tree.

Upstairs

The first floor has been completely transformed and two velux windows have been added in the bathroom and double bedroom to increase light and air flow. There’s now a double room, twin room and a shower room.

We couldn’t have done better with such a comfortable Gîte in such a beautiful area and, of course, such hospitable and helpful hosts.  We’ll be back! (Liz and Nigel Millward, Box, England)

The shower room consists of a shower cubicle, basin, bidet and toilet.

On the landing there’s an assorted collection of books together with various indoor and outdoor games and there’s also a comfy chair offering a quiet sitting area.
